Lee Kennedy Co., Inc. was selected as
the contractor for the 23-acre, $18 million preconstruction,
selective demolition, reconstruction and site work
phase of this major development of the former main
plant of H.P. Hood Co. Work included the construction
of new core lobbies on three floors, a new stair, a
double bank elevator, and two new entrances to the
building. All existing windows were replaced and refurbished
with new windows and a new exterior.
Work continued as tenants leased space in conventional as well as warehouse
office settings. Hood occupied research and development labs inside the
new facility. The Fritz Company leased 20,000 s.f. of office and 12,000
s.f. of warehouse space in addition to other tenants who included Air
Cargo, the Visiting Nurses Association and the Internet service provider,
HarvardNet, for which Lee Kennedy Co. constructed 15,000 s.f. of hardware
racking space.
Additional work since the base building's completion includes the Hood
Amenities Center, which contains a café and exercise room for
tenants' use, plus Lee Kennedy Co. performed preconstruction services
for Phase II of the Hood Business Park development which included the
addition of office space and the construction of a parking garage.
