The radically contemporary design of this corporate communications firm posed some interesting challenges for the Lee Kennedy Co. project team. The space features, for example, eleven different types of carpet--each piece being an individual piece of artwork that had to be installed so that all the pieces fit together to work as one pattern. Other elements of the design included partial drywall with exposed studs, stretch wall ceiling for acoustical purposes, creative use of mirrors and fabric, high end lighting, and exposed duct work.
Construction took place on the 9th floor of a new, 16-story office tower. This posed logistical difficulties as many of the floors were under construction and access to the building's one freight elevator was challenging. Construction of the 20,000 s.f. space was completed on an aggressive 3-month schedule. Therefore, proper planning and scheduling was crucial to the success of this $1.2 million project.
