Lee Kennedy Co. is performing preconstruction and construction management services for the conversion of the Mount Anthony Middle School into an assisted living and senior housing facility. Preconstruction services will entail program review and the development of schedule, budget and logistics. The 100,000 s.f. $6 million project is comprised of a historic building and an addition that was added in the 1960’s. Multiple floor levels exist between the two portions of the building, thus requiring extensive planning in order to accommodate the ADA needs of the building. Historic window restoration and façade repair will be an intricate piece of the work to take place. A moderate amount of demolition is required in order to construct a new porte-cochere, which will allow easy building access for the residents.
Just as the building is a mix of historic
and modern architecture, so too will the inhabitants
be. In addition to the 74 units that will house the
elderly, 15,000 s.f. of space will be leased to the
local Boys and Girls Club. The existing gymnasium plus
some additional space will be renovated for use by
the club.
