The scope of this renovation project
entailed a complete gut and rehab of 28,500 square feet
plus new HVAC, electrical, plumbing and sprinkler systems
work in the existing clubhouse that was built in 1918.
The rehabilitation included construction of a handicapped-accessible
entrance, a new staircase and a new elevator as well as
a new courtyard. An existing swimming pool was infilled,
creating a 2,000 s/f multipurpose room with a performance
stage. The completed project houses a computer lab, music
rooms, an expanded arts facility and a newspaper history
display featuring archives from the Taylor Family, the
original owner/publisher of the Boston Globe. Additionally,
Lee Kennedy Co. performed limited HVAC and electrical systems
work at the adjacent Ansin Youth Center.
