Tremont Street Projects
Boston, MA

Lee Kennedy Co. was chosen for this fast-track, design/build contract which consisted of 6 projects. The first project for WERS radio station moved the station from its cramped quarters on Beacon Street to a new, state-of-the-art radio station complete with performance studios, a newsroom, and offices for personnel. The space spans two floors, the basement and street levels. The studios have a soundproof, glass wall to the street so passersby can take in the behind-the-scenes action of a live radio show.

Two tenant fit-up projects consisted of new office space for the Continuing Education Division and the Department of Writing, Literature, and Publishing. A third fit-up for the Department of Visual and Media Arts included state-of-the-art audio, visual, and photography space and special classrooms for teaching and performing. Another project included two individual cafes, an outdoor cafe which sits directly on Boston Common and built above the Boylston MBTA station and an indoor cafe at 88 Boylston Street. The final project was a full tenant fit-up renovation at 126 Beacon Street (the former home of WERS radio station) for the Department of Performing Arts. The project was completed in three weeks.
