Lee Kennedy Co. was hired early in the planning and development of this new, four-story academic building which also features three levels of below-grade parking. Preconstruction services were important to the project being as the parking levels are well below the water table. The project required a deep excavation with an earth retention system that provided a water cut-off. Our preconstruction department explored various earth retention systems and selected the soil-mix system which was the most compatible for the site and surrounding properties.
The building contains 60,000 s.f. of academic,
administrative and instructional space. The new building
houses
the Graduate School of Social Work, the Graduate School of
Library Information Sciences and technology and student
services.
The ground-up construction of this project took
place on an aggressive schedule, with overlapping design
and
construction activities.
