Lee
Kennedy Co., Inc. transformed former corporate office space
into an international squash court/exercise facility. Lee
Kennedy Co. performed all the demolition, cleaned the space,
added a 3,500 s/f mezzanine, installed all new mechanical
equipment and then performed the finishes inside this downtown
athletic club. Lee Kennedy Co. was required to work around
volume constraints as a result of the added mezzanine which
reduced overall ceiling space. Accommodating the mechanical
equipment while maintaining an architecturally pleasing end-product
posed some challenges. Finishes included tiling and cherry
wood paneling. Other amenities included racquet facilities,
saunas, steam rooms and showers. The four-month project schedule
was demanding yet Lee Kennedy Co. maintained it even while
accommodating several changes from the original design. The
project covered 18,000 s/f and cost $2 million.
