On the eve of the 230th anniversary of the
Boston Tea Party, LKCo selected as GC for new Boston Tea Party
Ship & Museum
Lee
Lee Kennedy Co. will be performing construction
of the new Boston Tea Party Ship & Museum on the Fort
Point Channel at the Congress Street Bridge in Boston. The
previous museum was destroyed by fire in late 2001. The new
facility -- which will be built in the water on a new pier
and floating barge -- will house a museum, cafe, gift shop,
and a tearoom. The tearoom and café will be on the
second floor above the museum. The centerpiece of the completed
museum will be three working ships, replicas of the Beaver,
Dartmouth, and Elinore which were the three ships docked at
Griffin's Wharf on the night of the Tea Party, December 16,
1773. Lee Kennedy Co. will work with McManus Peterman Architects
in a design/build manner to construct the project scheduled
to start this summer.
