The new five-story, 66,000 sf building houses offices, classrooms, study spaces, and an Executive Education floor along with a new 715-space underground parking garage. It is Simmons’ first building constructed in accordance with the USGBC’s LEED standards. Slurry wall construction along with top–down sequencing was used to facilitate earlier occupancy for portions of the structure. The new garage connects with the existing Graduate Center underground parking previously completed by Lee Kennedy Co. A new campus quadrangle sits on top of the underground parking garage and there is a rooftop garden which will absorb and divert rainwater. The building and garage were constructed simultaneously within an active campus setting.
