Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance (MAHA)
1803 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, MA

Lee Kennedy Co. razed the original, wood-framed structure housing the offices MAHA had rented as its headquarters for over a decade. In its place, a 9,500 sf environmentally sustainable building, using recycled building materials from the existing structure, was constructed.  The non-profit organization, which promotes investment in affordable housing and educates first–time homebuyers, now has updated offices, meeting spaces, and classrooms for the Homeownership University on the top two floors while the ground floor includes 1,700 sf of retail space that will contribute to the revitalization of the Peabody Square neighborhood. The project followed EPA recommendations for “green” construction and includes a demonstration room to provide homeowners with information on conservation, recycling, healthy homes and energy-efficient appliances.
