Lee Kennedy Co. completed the vertical addition for swissnex Boston, Consulate of Switzerland, atop the organization’s existing collaborative space in Cambridge in a design/ build capacity with Swiss design firm Convergeo and local architect Darlow Christ Architects on the project. The contemporary design includes few right angles, featuring a carefully installed radius steel frame and a segmented, curved curtain wall façade giving it a sleek, modern look. The environmentally-friendly design incorporates cork flooring and a rooftop garden which lowers energy costs and reduces the building’s carbon footprint. Despite the complex challenges posed by the logistics of a vertical addition on a tight urban site, the team completed construction in just over seven months.
