Harvard University
Houghton Library, Edison Newman Room
Cambridge, MA
Houghton Library is noted for housing the rarest of the University’s books and collections. The Edison Newman Room, originally constructed in 1946, is a particularly notable room inside the library, used for collection display, lectures and receptions. The beautifully ornate architectural woodwork still boasts the same coat of paint that was applied when the room opened. Under the careful management of Lee Kennedy Co., the 1,500 sf room was completely restored to its original beauty and received the benefit of upgrades to the lighting, HVAC, A/V, and electrical systems. The room also features acoustical enhancements and elegant new chandeliers. All work was performed while the building was occupied with no disruption to the owner, tenants, or visitors.
