Emerson College - Cutler Majestic Theatre

The renovation of this 26,000 sf, 100-year-old theater brought back its original, turn-of-the-century luster. The ornate plaster and beaux arts finishes were restored to their former grandeur and the previously closed second balcony was re-opened to allow for substantially more seating. The restoration also provided improved accessible seating and services. Carpet was installed throughout while a new elevator, lounge and restrooms were created to serve the upper balconies. The scope also included mechanical and electrical systems upgrades, installation of new safety and security systems, an enhanced rigging system for easier control of stage equipment, and improvement of the sound, video, communications and theatrical dimming systems. The building now houses a 21st century theater in a 19th century landmark.
